Johns Homestead Hosts an Afternoon at the Park

It's at 3071 Lawrenceville Highway and starts at noon on Sunday.

By Kathy Powell of the Tucker Historical Society

Invite everyone you know to come out Sunday afternoon and learn about Johns Homestead Park! The official address is 3071 Lawrenceville Highway and it neighbors Rehoboth Baptist Church. Look for the Yellow Ribbons on the house.

In spite of the forecast, the Johns Homestead Park celebration event is still on schedule for today, Sunday July 14 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. More than enough parking will be available at Rehoboth Baptist Church after their services are completed and the parking lot is emptying out, sometime after noon. Please use the sidewalk up to the homestead entrance.

We advise appropriate dress and shoes for walking on the newly blazed trails and around the lakes. Several volunteers with Tucker Historical Society, Tucker Civic Associatio, Friends of Johns Homestead Park and local neighbors worked most of Friday, clearing the sidewalk, laying down mulch over the muddy areas and picking up debris.

Pray for dry weather tomorrow so we can really enjoy the day!

THS will have a few representatives on hand to share history of the homestead and the Johns family. We hope some of the Johns family members will be with us too.

Everyone is welcome; light snacks, refreshments will be on hand, and so will a band. Friends of Johns Homestead Park are also accepting donations to go toward the continuing fundraising efforts too.
