Tucker Fountain Owner Tells His Side of the Story

Mike Holcomb writes about his arrest.

Hey everybody, this is Mike from the Fountain. I agree with all your opinions and do not frown on a heathy debate about the real facts and look forward to the actual facts getting out. Unfortunately it is limited what I can say at this time in this forum.

I hope with Kevin M's cooperation to disseminate information as it is advisable by my attorney who forsees a favorable disposition (and not just on a technicality).

What I will say is this and can be verified through the DCPD if they choose to comment:

1) This had nothing to do with The Fountain. This was all about proof of insurance on my van and the only reason the masked narcotics officers were involved was because they allegedly got cut off in Northlake rush hour traffic in an unmarked Jeep Cherokee.

2) The Fountain was searched with my permission and encouragement to assure authorities that it was blameless in this incident and that proved to be the case. They did get a warrant so that everything would be legal. The dramatic prescence of the masks is neccessary because these brave officers do very dangerous work on a daily basis. Nothing was found there and the restaurant continues to operate and has all week.

3) The alleged substances that were allegedly reported to have been found would in total have a street value of less than $5. And the felony controlled substance that was allegedly discovered on the floor in my van was the size of a 3/4" twig. It is not cocaine, meth, pills, crack or any type of manufactued drug that I am being accused of having on the floorboard of my van. The street value of that allegedly illegal substance is $0.00 and is actually commonly recognized as a pizza topping. I am not blameless and I forgive the officer that used excessive force to improperly and illegally jerk me out of the restaurant after the traffic stop was complete and I was free to exercise my rights.

The alleged "scuffle" occurred because I took one step to close and lock my cash register while still inside my business. There really is nothing sensational nor nefarious about this story... But I totally agree that the "draw your own conclusions" aspect of the way it was instantly reported was quite thrilling for all.

The Tucker Patch is actually how my parents, church friends, and room mates and girlfriend found out. I believe that the story broke before I was even booked or formally charged. I don't ask for understanding, sympathy or to be considered a "pillar of the community."

I do recommend that you try the best hotdog in the city at The Fountain. I love Tucker with an intense passion that has driven me to devote my life to creating and causing The Fountain to be. So come on down (or don't) to The Old Tucker Fountain where the air conditioning is cool, the Hottie Hot Dog is the hot seller, the kids are safe and the milkshakes are still hand dipped.

Blessings to all.
