Scenes for a feature film called "CurveBall" were shot in a Tucker residence over the weekend.

The movie, produced by Supremacy Films, is about an inner city high schooler who grows up without a father and is taught how to play baseball by a childhood friend. As he becomes one of the most sought-after baseball player in Georgia, the same friend introduces him to drugs.

"We get to see the rise and fall of this kid, and how important it is to have a father figure, or how important it is to have parental guidance," said producer Errol Sadler.

The big stars in "CurveBall" include Rockmond Dunbar of "Sons of Anarchy" and "The Game;" Lynn Whitfield, who's been in "Madea's Family Reunion" and "Stepmom;" and E. Roger Mitchell, who's acted in "The Walking Dead," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "Flight" alongside Denzel Washington.

Mitchell plays a baseball coach to main character Nolan, played by Jean-Luc McCurtry, a film student at New York University. He's also been in a TV pilot with Kevin Bacon and Cheri Christian, who plays Nolan's mother in "CurveBall."

"With the ensemble of characters that we have, people will definitely be able to see themselves in one of these characters," said Sadler.

Dressed in black clothes, the cast of about a dozen were at Tom Wages Funeral Home in Snellville on Friday to film a service for a character who overdoses on drugs. The week before, the crew was shooting at Sadler's home with Dunbar.

Over the weekend, the set moved to Tucker, and this week, they'll be shooting at Tri Cities High School. Filming also will take place in Lawrenceville and other locations through Aug. 20.

Sadler and Director Brandon Thaxton aim to get "CurveBall" into film festivals such as Sundance, Cannes and Tribeca. The two have a previous film, "Echo at 11 Oak Drive," also starring Dunbar, that was at this year's Sundance and Cannes festivals.

Sadler said they will be looking for extras for "CurveBall" in the near future. Be sure to check with Tucker Patch for those details later.
