Dave, Let me get this straight. You are against socialism but you are against de-regulation of the airlines. Or you are in favor of de-regulation even though it resulted in bad service.

I don't understand why anyone would complain about the process of forming a city. If people living in a contigious area want to incorporate, they get their representative to file a bill, the legislature votes on it and if it approves the matter goes to the people living inside the purposed city boundaries for a vote yes or no.
If more people vote no there is no city. If more vote yes there is a city.
Seems reasonable and fair to me. And can.t see that it should concern anyone who does not live with the purposed boundaries.

Don't see why anyone would deny people the right to incorporate if they want to. The procedure for doing so is in the state legal code. It's up to the people in the bondaries of the porposed cities to decide in a referendum if the bill is passed by the legislature.
Benefits of being in a small city of 70,000 or so people with local oficials as opposed tp being in an unincorporated county of 700,000 plus are many and have been listed over and over.
Local control and local government by local electd officials is better.
Local government is the best government.

    It's time to incorporate'

City and county police deparments ill work together. City police will be able to take fingerprints and heliocopters will be used if necessary. And the city will pay for the service.

county will lose money but will provide fewer services within the city. Less money but less expenses. No net loss to county.

Taxes wll not go up if a city i formed unless voters appprove. There are safeguards in the city bill.

Your county txes will decrease more than the amount you will pay in city taxes.

Local control and local goverment is better.

DeKalb County government is clearly not working. Eight commissioners can't manage 700,000 plus people. It is time to form small cities of less than 100,000 each so there can be workable government with local control. Code enforcement, parks, zoning and law enforcement works much better when managed with small government.
As Thomas Jefferson said, "The best government is local government."
    Local means better.

The pros for becoming a city are for local control of zoning and code enfocementr. Also for more parks in our part of the county and quicker response time form police and more police presence. There are also more grants available for cities than fot counties.

I am not aware of any groups raising money for studies for SB 275 or HB 665. Unless funds are raised and studies done those bills wil likely die in committee.

There are two senate bills, 270 and 275. My guess is that only one bill will come out of the committee to the senate floor to be voted on and sent to the house. If there is a 75 per cent overlap that means the bills are fairly identical.
Sice thy are so similar, will two separate studies be done. It may be that the committee will be able to work off one study ad adjust the boundaries on the bill they vote out to the floor of the senate.

Now we will see if both Lakeside and Tucker Together have the required tudis done using their respective maps. If they do, then the Governmental Affairs Committee will have two proposed bills whose boundaries overlap and both include Northlake Mall. Tey can pass one bill and not the other, adjust the bounderies of one or both bills so their is no overlap and pass them both, or throw up their hands and table both bills. Will be intersting to see what they decide to do.

The Lakeside map is already part of their bill.
