Mackleen Gresham

Born in Brooklyn, New York, I was raised in Boston, Massachusetts and I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia. Living across the street from a library, I developed an interest in books and writing. After being told by a librarian that I couldn't keep any books until I wrote them myself, I decided at the age of 6 that I wanted to become a writer. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College. My love for writing expanded as I became a full-time freelance writer for various publications. I currently run a popular blog called Boujie Mack and I am writing a book, ironically, called Boujie Girl. In addition to working as a college instructor, I tutor and teach English and Professional Writing. Recently, I began running creative writing workshops catered to people who want to work on their creative writing skills. I am also returning to school to get a Ph.D in Creative Writing, so I can further educate students on the art. I love working for the Patch because it gives me a balance between creative writing and news reporting. Working for Patch has taught me to have a stronger eye for detail. It also allows me to meet and talk to different people about various topics. When I'm not writing and teaching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family.  I also love animals, particularly my two rescued dogs, Diamond and Mocha, and my cat Chloe.
