ReplyI noticed all the items under goal #5 "Rebuild trust with internal and external stakeholders" are related to communication. More PR is not going to earn my trust. Cleaning house of the deadbeat administrators will earn my trust.

I don't want him to stay. I want him to clean out the Palace riff-raff and hire a decent replacement who will stay longer than 5 years.

ReplyOne question he won't answer is will he order a real audit. How can he get the finances straightened out if he doesn't know where money is being spent?

ReplyWhen I tried to take the survey I got a message saying I had already taken it. That is a good example of the level of service the DeKalb police provide, poor.
I wish they would do something to lower the speeds on Lavista Rd. between Northlake Parkway and Chamblee Tucker Rd. It has been so long since anyone got a speeding ticket that 55 mph is the norm and people are routinely exceeding that.

ReplyMr. Walker might have an arguement to make against SACS and their shrouded process if he hadn't have voted to use SACS as the accrediting agency for Dekalb County Schools. The school board has voted to renew the district's relationship with SACS several times. A relationship for which the Dekalb County school board has voted to PAY SACS for the privilege of maintaining.
If Dr. Walker had concerns about the process SACS uses to investigate why didn't he voice those concerns earlier? If Senate Bill 84 imposes state will on local politics, why didn't Dr. Walker change the circumstances to avoid being placed on probation by dropping SACS and using the Georgia Accrediting Commission or another accrediting agency?
Dr. Walker is crying about the rules of the game by which he chose to play. I am sorry to say I have NO sympathy for his tears. Dr. Walker, the problem is not SACS, or Senate bill 84, or the governor. The problem is you. Please man up, step up, and step down.

ReplyThey should just step aside and not waste any more money. They may be correct, but that isn't the issue here. The issue is 10 years of failed leadership. It is time for a fresh start.

I am not surprised. Thurmond brought in outside people to look at the budget. People who actually know about budgets.
How much will they charge the district?
