'Awesome Community Event' at Tucker Nature Preserve
Monday was a busy day for volunteers all over town.
Volunteers came out in force to plant trees and shrubs at the Tucker Nature Preserve on Martin Luther King's Day of Service on Monday. It was one of five different work-day events held around town. "It was fantastic. A huge success," said Pam McNall, an organizer and occassional Patch contributor. "We had a total of about 105 people helping at the Preserve, and I heard from others that the "meet and greet" at Tucker High School at 9 a.m. had about 130 people, before they all divided up and worked at the various work locations." McNall said a lot of tree and shrub saplings were planted and the whole place was cleaned up. "It's going to be a whole new looking Nature Preserve once these saplings start sprouting up!"
