Tucker Business Association Welcomes New Members

Burke Brennan, President of the Tucker Business Association, sent out a message welcoming new members to the organization. (Brennan is also the Chief Communications Officer for DeKalb County). Tucker Company Gets Attention for Customized iPhones

Local innovator, 'rebellious tinkerer' tells the New York Times about his creations.

Matt Turner didn't know his life would change quite a bit when his iPhone fell off a table and the glass shattered. A maker of iPod docks at the time, Turner, 37, replaced the glass with a piece of wood that he sanded to the correct thickness, according to an article in the New York Times with the headline Rebellious Tinkerers Dress Up the iPhone's Uniform. After posting a picture of his device on Facebook, things started happening. “Everyone wanted one,” Turner told the Times. “So we decided it was something we could make and sell to the public.” The company he co-founded, Material6, is now selling $89 kits that let buyers pick from a dozen different hand-carved wooden backs.
