Local antique store is supplying artifacts for a movie set.
Old Tucker Mill, the antique shop on Railroad Avenue, is setting the stage for Tucker's close-up with Georgia's booming film production industry. Owners Jeff and Lori Gold, who opened the store in August 2011, have been getting visits from the makers of the movie "Prisoners," starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, which has been shooting in the area in recent weeks. “We both got really lucky,” said Kathleen Denson, Set Decoration Buyer for Captive Productions and a prop buyer for the movie. “Our office is over off of Mountain Industrial. I just looked up antique stores, thrift stores, kind of in the area and the internet lead me to the store next door which was closed. Then, these guys were open. Another Hollywood production comes to town.
A movie called "Prisoners" is shooting scenes this week at an industrial complex in Tucker. Starring in the kidnapping drama are Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, and Melissa Leo, among others. The scenes shooting locally are set in the fictional city of Conyers, Pennsylvania. When Patch visited the set on Tuesday afternoon, actors and crew were working on a scene in which a young couple walks out the front entrance of a police station and is accosted by press photographers. Gyllenhaal plays the role of Detective Loki, who follows the couple out of the building. Jackman's character is Keeler Dover, seen sitting in a pick-up truck near the station. Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Sandman draft Jack Frost to be in their gang to guard against all things evil as they protect the magical state of childhood in "Rise of the Guardians." Stars such as Alec Baldwin, Jude Law, Hugh Jackman, Chris Pine and Isla Fisher lend their voices to this visually stunning film perfect for the holiday season. I'll be the first one to say that it's easy to be cynical about holiday movies but this one won't let you. This certainly isn't a Judeo-Christian holiday-themed film, as you might imagine. That's what makes it a better than your average Christmastime film. Turning these mythical beings into superheroes is clever. If it does well at the box office I see a franchise in the making…
