Tucker Patch Football Honor Roll Top performer of the week: Tucker High’s 57-7 win over Lakeside in last week’s regular-season finale was a statistical example of what has made the Tigers’ season so amazing. The Tigers scored early and often — once again, the second half was on a running clock — and eight different players scored touchdowns. Yes, eight different players, and they scored in a variety of ways. Dallas Rivers, Jordan Landry, Yusuf Minor and Juwaan Williams all scored on runs. Terrell Simmons and Austin Benton scored on interceptions returns. Marqeeye Biggs returned a punt for a TD, and Dominic Sanders scored on a kickoff return. The senior defensive end is the team's leading sacker — with six in eight games (10th in DeKalb County) — and one of the leading tacklers with 26 solos and six assists. Tucker Patch Football Honor Roll Player of the Week Jerry Shippy/Tucker Often overlooked in Tucker High School’s wide margins of football victories this season has been the fine play of the defense, which has allowed only 78 points in seven games and no more than eight points in a game in more than a month. It’s hard to overlook linebacker Jerry Shippy's impact, however. The senior is among the team’s statistical leaders on defense. In six games — statistics from last week’s 37-6 win over Miller Grove were not available — Shippy led the team in solo tackles (19) and tackles for losses (six), and was tied for the lead in sacks (two) and total tackles (25).
