Chamblee and Dunwoody square off Thursday night, while Cross Keys kicks off Friday night.
Chamblee High opens its football season Thursday night at Adams Stadium against Dunwoody High. Game time is 7:30 pm. On Friday, Cross Keys kicks off its 2012 season against Best Academy at Grady High School at 5:30 pm. In other games throughout DeKalb: The Stephenson Jaguars step onto the national stage to open the 2012 high school football season as they take on Pine Forest High School of Pensacola, FL in the second of three games in the National High School Gridiron Challenge hosted by North Gwinnett High School on Saturday, Sept. 1. First week results for DeKalb high school football games.
Junior running back Dallas Rivers rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Class AAAAA No. 2 ranked Tucker Tigers to a 36-14 high school football victory over the Class AAA No. 7 ranked Cedar Grove Saints at Hallford Stadium on Friday. Tucker (1-0) rolled up 411 yards of total offense as Yusuf Minor added 124 yards and one touchdown and Joseph Farrar rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown. The defense meanwhile limited the Saints and Class AAA preseason All-State quarterback Johnathan McCrary to 184 yards of total offense, including just 92 through the air for McCrary.
