Basketball: Tucker Teams in Top Ten Rankings

Both teams play at Dunwoody on Tuesday.

Both Tucker teams enter the week in the Top 10 rankings as they travel to Dunwoody in Region 6A-AAAA. The Lady Tigers (18-3) are No. 1 in both the polls after a thrilling 46-45 victory over then No. 1 and now No. 2 ranked Stephenson (19-3) at home last week. The Tigers (13-7) are hanging tough at No. 6 (AJC) after splitting games last week. The No. 2 ranked Stephenson Lady Jaguars (19-3) travel to Clarkston in a Region 6A-AAAA contest on Tuesday night. The Region 6-AAA high school boys’ matchup on Tuesday between Cedar Grove and Woodward Academy will be for first place as the host Saints look to extend their winning streak to 12 consecutive victories. Tucker Student Donates Hair for Good Cause

Program benefits kids with medical issues.

Fifth grader Rhea Niyyar, of Tucker, has donated 10 inches of her hair to the Locks of Love program at Woodward Academy at the start of the school year. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under the age of 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

Student From Tucker Wins National Debate Championship

Woodward Academy student Jason Sigalos was part of a duo that achieved a perfect record.

Jason Sigalos of Tucker is one of two Woodward Academy students who recently won the National Debate Coaches' Association National Championship in Las Vegas.  The other student is Rahim Shakoor, of Conyers, and they are both part of the senior debate team at Woodward. This win represents the first national debate championship in Academy history. The pair won each ballot in seven preliminary rounds and four elimination rounds to achieve a perfect 19-0 record. They also twice defeated the number one ranked team in the country, Greenhill School of Dallas.
