Tucker Flower Shop Wins Holiday Contest

Long-standing local florist takes top prize in a storefront decorating contest.

Winners have been announced in the Downtown Tucker Business Holiday Decorating Contest. First place goes to the Tucker Flower Shop which, according to proud owner Julia McDonald, is the oldest business in town. When asked how she felt about winning the $500 prize, she had a one-word answer: "Ecstatic!" Runner-up is the Custom Frame Shop, owned by Kelly Holloway. "We literally threw this together at the last minute," she said. "It's kinda funny." Her design includes a detailed scene from the Nutcracker complete with dancing ballerinas. Next up is Larry Shupbach's Village Shoe Service, and Matthews Cafeteria receives an honorable mention. I have not seen the first place winners display but the frame shop display is really original plus looks great in person. I need to check out the Shoe store display in person too - the picture makes it look rather plain.   more ›
