DeKalb Forum Attracts College Football Recruiters

Wednesday’s forum drew 59 colleges and prep schools.

DeKalb County Schools Athletics hosted the annual Football Recruiting Video Forum on Wednesday at the East DeKalb Campus bringing in 59 colleges and prep schools to recruit DeKalb County football players. The colleges are invited each year to sit down with the DeKalb County football coaches at one site and gather information on prospective student athletes to help fill the needs of their football programs without spending their entire recruiting budgets trying to get to each individual school. This year’s forum drew 53 four-year colleges from the NCAA’s Football Championship Division, Division II, Division III and the NAIA. DCFCA All-Star Game Set For Dec. 22

Kick-off is 2 p.m. at Hallford Stadium in Clarkston.

The DeKalb County Football Coaches Association has announced the East-West All-Star game taking place at Clarkston's Hallford Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 22. Players from many high schools in the county, including Tucker, will join the roster, which has yet to be announced.    Admission will be $10 and kick-off time is 2 p.m. More details to follow.

Tigers Loss Signals End Of Season

Tucker, Stephenson fall in Class AAAAA state quarterfinals.

The 2012 DeKalb County high school football season came to an end on Friday as the Tucker Tigers and Stephenson Jaguars both fell in Class AAAAA state playoff road games. The No. 5 ranked Tigers pushed the No. 1 ranked Northside-Warner Robins Eagles to the final seconds before the Eagles pulled out a 23-20 victory in Warner Robins on Friday night. The Tigers needed one last defensive stand with Northside threatening from the 10. Tucker’s Stephen Reynolds looked to have ended the threat on third down when he pulled in an apparent interception which was ruled out of bounds in the end zone. Student Spirit Bus Heading to Quarterfinal Game

Sign up now to attend the Tigers' game this Friday in Warner Robins.

A student “spirit” bus is being planned for those attending the quarterfinal game against Northside-Warner Robins this Friday, Nov. 30.  Any student who is interested can sign up at school. The cost will be $27. That includes $15 for the bus and $12 for the ticket. We must have 53 students plus two chaperones in order to get the bus. So, don’t wait, students; SIGN UP NOW!    We also need to see some Tucker SPIRIT in the community! Anyone who visits a Tucker business, please ask them to put up a simple sign like “GO TIGERS” in their window!   Spiritwear will be sold Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at our Tucker Chick-fil-A! Tucker Tigers Advance to Quarterfinals

Tigers move into Class AAAAA state quarterfinals against Northside-Warner Robins.

The No. 5 ranked Tucker Tigers and No. 9 ranked Stephenson Jaguars moved one step closer to a rematch of Stephenson’s 13-6 regular season win with Class AAAAA state high school football playoffs second round victories on Friday night. The Tigers shut down the high scoring North Paulding offense in the second half on the way to a 40-21 Class AAAAA second round playoff victory at Adams Stadium on Friday night. Juwaan Williams ran for three touchdowns, two in the second half, to go with 140 yards rushing and the Tigers rolled up over 500 yards on the ground in the victory. The No. 2 ranked Lions improved to 11-0 for the second consecutive season as junior quarterback Roland Rivers threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-14 win over the Sequoyah Chiefs at Hallford Stadium to earn another home date in the second round next week. Tigers Advance to State Playoffs' Second Round

Tucker earns a host role on Friday night against North Paulding.

Three DeKalb high school football teams remain in the Class AAAAA state playoffs and face entries from Region 5-AAAAA in the second round on Friday. The No. 2 ranked Martin Luther King Jr. Lions are 11-0 on the season and entertain the No. 10 ranked Allatoona Buccaneers (10-1) at Hallford Stadium on Friday night with the kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. Allatoona is a fifth year program and making its second playoff appearance. The Buccaneers are coming off a 24-21 win over Heritage of Conyers in which they rallied from an early 14-0 deficit to pull out their first playoff victory in school history.
