The following is the latest list of Tucker students who are gaining recognition in their college careers, according to ReadMedia Newswire: Michelle Kim Turgeon has been named to the Dean's List at Washington University in St. Louis. Mercer University in Macon, Ga. honored these students: LaToya Stewart, a junior, was named to the President's List and Dean's List of the College of Continuing and Professional Studies. Tucker resident is a Senior Business Economics major.
Eduardo Mares of Tucker has been named to the Fall 2012 Dean's List at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga. Mares is a Senior Business Economics major, according to ReadMedia Newswire. Jamie Elizabeth Raines of Tucker, majoring in Marketing at Clemson University in South Carolina, has been named to the President's List for last semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a 4.0 grade-point average. Raines completed a Study Abroad program in Italy in the fall of 2011.

Two students from Tucker have been added to the Dean's List for the 2012 fall semester at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Ga. The Tyler Junior College student was arrested Tuesday night after a fight on campus.
Tyler Brunson of Tucker was arrested at Tyler Junior College Tuesday night after a fight on campus, KETK-TV is reporting. Also arrested was Alton Tanner of Katy, TX. Both students were members of the 2011-12 men’s basketball team at the college, but they have been suspended from TJC and all college activities and organizations as a result. The station is reporting that campus security officers responded to a fight at about 11:30 p.m. between Claridge and Sledge residence halls. Officers broke up the fight and summoned an ambulance for Austin Mansell, of Royse City, who was treated at East Texas Medical Center and then released. The Statesboro college singles out three more local students for special awards.
The Georgia Southern University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, a national honor society for college freshmen, has initiated two new students, Erin Seal and Susan Williams, who come from Tucker. To be eligible, initiates earn a minimum GPA of 3.6 while enrolled full-time. Phi Eta Sigma recognizes and promotes academic and service excellence among first-year students. The honor society now has 371 chartered chapters throughout the United States. Also at Georgia Southern, Elizabeth Rucker, from Tucker, received the Outstanding Scholar Graduating Senior Award.
