Arbor Day at Trees of Tucker

The Arbor Day celebration honored the LaVista Lions Club.

Georgia Master Gardeners of DeKalb and guests celebrated Georgia Arbor Day, Feb. 15, at the Trees of Tucker Urban Forest located at 4898 LaVista Road.  Special guests included members of the LaVista Lions Club, Pastor Jimmy Moor of Tucker First United Methodist Church and Gary Peiffer of DeKalb's Extension Horticultural Program. The Arbor Day celebration honored the LaVista Lions Club which donated three Chionanthus Virginicus [Grancy Gray-Beard] to the site. These trees are small native trees that can grow to 30’ tall. Their white flowers appear in April and the bluish-black fruit of the female tree is a source of food for wildlife. Also honored was Chris Taras of Taras Landscape Consulting for his continued support and contributions.  …
