Tucker Students Among DeKalb Scholarship Recipients

Two students are featured in a Youtube video about the scholarships.

Tucker High School's Ramon Wyndell Johnson and Feven Laine are among 26 students recently awarded college scholarship funding from DeKalb county. Johnson and Laine are featured in video about the awards, along with a student from Southwest DeKalb high school. The video is attached to this article. Learn more about the scholarships, which were presented this past on Tuesday by DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis.

DeKalb Partners to Award Scholarships

Applications to the Educational Scholarship Fund for high schoolers are being accepted.

DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis, in partnership with the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and the DeKalb County School District, has established the DeKalb County Educational Scholarship Fund for high school students. The fund will award multiple scholarships in amounts up to $5,000 to DeKalb County School District high school seniors who have been accepted into a two- or four- year college or vocational training program in Georgia. Scholarships will be awarded to students based on their financial need and merit. Students can apply for the scholarship now through April 19, 2013. The application is available here. Kohl's Accepting Scholarship Nominations

Program will award more than $425,000 in scholarships and prizes this year.

Kohl’s is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program, recognizing kids ages six to 18 who have made a positive impact on their community through volunteerism. Nominations are being accepted now through March 15. Nominators must be 21 years or older. Two nominees from each of the more than 1,100 Kohl’s stores nationwide will win a $50 Kohl’s gift card, and more than 200 will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education. Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education, and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf. Kohl's local store is located at Northlake Mall.

Tucker Chick-fil-A Employees Get Scholarships

Three Northlake Festival employees so far have won this scholarship.

Two employees of the Northlake Festival Chick-fil-A have won the company's Leadership Scholarship. The scholarship, worth $1,000 each, is awarded to employees who go above and beyond--both behind the counter and at their desks at school. Both winners are college students who have been Chick-fil-A employees for more than four years. Nick Pallas is studying finance at Georgia State University and is in the Class of 2014. Lauren Spratte is majoring in marketing at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business with a targeted graduation date of next spring. Now that Pallas and Spratte have won this scholarship, they are also in the running for another $1,000 scholarship, the S. Truett Cathy Scholarship Award. Three employees of this …
