I want to invite you to play in a golf tournament. This is very important to me. Eight years ago my father started a golf tournament to benefit the Salvation Army at Smoke Rise Country Club. In 2007, he passed away and I have continued the tradition in his name. Over the last seven years, we have raised over $40,000 and over 1,000 toys for needy families. This year’s tournament is THIS Saturday, Dec. 8 at Smoke Rise Country Club. It will be a shotgun start at 11 a.m. The cost is $75 per player. We also ask that you bring three new/unwrapped toys in exchange for three mulligans. We will have other fundraising opportunities as well, but bring an additional $20 for “all you can drink” Bloody Marys!! This tournament is the highlight of the …

WHAT: The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta beginning today at 12 noon will provide water, and distribute 500 free electric fans to those in need in the communities of Metro Atlanta, Gwinnett and Decatur. Two cooling stations will also be set up for those that seek temporary relief from scorching temperatures located at The Salvation Army in Gwinnett and The Salvation Army in Decatur from 12 noon to 5 p.m. WHY: Atlanta is expected to have record breaking heat today which poses a health risk to many. “Temperatures are expected to reach triple digits this afternoon.
