The United States Postal Service announced Wednesday that regular Saturday mail delivery will cease starting in August. "What's being reported is one of those things that we are looking at as another possible cost-cutting measure," said Michael Miles, spokesperson for the Atlanta District of the USPS. "So for now it's part of a study that we are looking at over the next five years to reduce our costs." The move does not affect package delivery, mail-order medicines, priority and express mail. The debut of the U.S. Postal Service's 46-cent Forever stamps brings rate changes on Jan. 27.
Soon it's going to cost you an extra penny to mail a letter. The U.S. Post Office announced recently that the effective Jan. 27, stamp prices will increase one cent to make way for the new 46-cent Forever stamp. The price to mail a one-ounce letter will increase from 45 cents to 46 cents, but the cost for letters weighing more than one ounce will stay the same, at 20 cents for each additional ounce. The announcement states letters under one ounce mailed anywhere internationally will cost $1.10 and postcard stamps will also see a one-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents. Don't trust your valuable packages to the Tucker Post Office. They DON'T deliver and they can't explain why. I'm still waiting for a phone call back after numerous attempts to locate my package after 2 weeks of "out for delivery".   more ›
