Big Music Night Friday at Old Tucker Fountain

Friday's headliner is Riley Beiderer, a young singer recently signed to Elton John's production company.

Mike Holcomb, owner of the Old Tucker Fountain on Main Street, is determined to ramp things up musically at the venue. There is already live jazz on Thursdays at lunchtime, and live bluegrass on Sunday evenings. But Friday, Aug. 10 is going to be a little different. A line-up of rising pop, rock, and country musicians will perform, among them Riley Beiderer, a young prodigy from Cumming, Georgia who caught the ear of Elton John and was recently signed to his production company.  “They think big things are possible for Riley," her father told Cumming Patch in a profile of the artist last year. Happy 120th Tucker!

Lots of gratitude to lots of fine locals.

The 120th celebration on Saturday was a great day for Tucker, Georgia! We had a little down-home ceremony to recognize the families who so graciously donated the historically significant items that now call Browning Courthouse home.   We thank Theron Chewning and Nan Chewning Brownlee for the donation of their grandfather's (Alf Chewning) personal desk he used to process the mail beginning on June 25, 1892. Thanks to Tim Timmons for sharing background information on Tucker's history leading up to the time of Alf Chewning's appointment.   We thank Wallace and Ruth Ann Hardy for honoring the Lewis family in donating the over 100-year-old Tucker Congregational Church pew.
