Shoe Department is expanding, and the mall plans to open a 4 Ever Young apparel store, a Subway, a Best Buy Mobile and a T-Mobile store.
Northlake Mall welcomed a new Best Buy Mobile store Wednesday and plans to open four other stores soon. The mall announced the following Wednesday: Encore by Shoe Department, the popular accessories store carrying shopper favorite brands like Nike, New Balance and Timberland, is expanding into a fully renovated 17,900 square foot storefront. This is the only Encore store in Georgia, and it is located on the lower level next to Perfumania. The expansion is slated to be completed this month. 4 Ever Young, a local store specializing in trendy juniors apparel, jewelry and accessories, will open in April in a 11,625 square foot storefront near between Ashley Stewart and Sears Upper Level. Mall employees put two and two together after the suspect filed a complaint about security, DeKalb County police said.
A man known to expose himself to Northlake Mall department store employees has a problem with mall security, DeKalb County police said. They won't stop following him around, he said. Police haven't confirmed the identity of the man, according to a police report filed last week. They were called to the mall March 16 once employees realized, after consulting security camera footage, the man known for exposing himself also filed a complaint recently with the mall's manager about security personnel following him. During the meeting with the mall's manager, the suspect was loud and belligerent and seemed "unstable," the report said. Citing concerns about issues with the carnival company at other Atlanta locations, the mall has decided to reschedule the carnival with a different vendor at a date to be announced.
Northlake Mall has canceled the carnival that was scheduled to open today through July 17, a mall spokesperson said Thursday. The mall hired Mega Midways, a Georgia carnival company, through KevaWorks, a California amusement consulting firm, said Sarah Funderburk, a spokeswoman with BRAVE Public Relations, an Atlanta company that represents the mall. After KevaWorks learned of issues Mega Midways had managing other Atlanta-area carnivals, the company and the mall decided Tuesday to reschedule the carnival with a new company, Funderburk said. She said she did not know specific problems area clients had with Mega Midways, and a KevaWorks representative did not immediately return a call for comment.
