Beer Growler Brewing on Main Street

If all goes as planned, there will soon be another alcohol vendor in Tucker.

A local businessman has applied to DeKalb County for a license to open a beer growler in Tucker. Laurie Morrison, co-owner of the building at 2323 Main Street, told Tucker Patch that an application has been submitted to the county for part of her premises to be used as a beer dispenser and that it should open by March 2013. "He's started working on the space, but doesn't want to go too far before he gets the go-ahead," Morrison said. She added that it shouldn't be a problem and that the Main Street Tucker Alliance is "all for it." Morrison, who runs the Main Street School of Art, described the applicant as a "family man who's lived in Tucker for ages" and said this will be his first venture in the growing growler trend. Hopefully this means competitive prices and more variety of craft beers. I'm sure the two shops will overlap a bit in offerings, but the competition should be a good thing.
