Do You Have Your Own Rules for Your Children's Phone Usage?

How closely do you monitor your children's use of technology?

Janelle Hoffman, a mother of five, presented her 13-year-old son with an iPhone for Christmas, along with a list of rules and regulations for its use. Not the Apple list; the mom's list. Rule No. 1 is, "It's my phone. I bought it. I pay for it. I am loaning it to you. Aren't I the greatest?" And No. 2 is, "I will always know the password." The contract has 18 points of requirements for usage that range from proper phone etiquette to sage advice for the future, such as No. 12: "Do not send or receive pictures of your private parts or anyone else's private parts. Don't laugh. Someday you will be tempted to do this despite your high intelligence. It is risky and could ruin your teenage/college/adult life. It is always a bad idea." …

We've all heard the adage, “If Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.” Today’s tech-savvy moms have new tools at their fingertips to help.

Hello. My name is Raven, and I’m addicted to my iPhone. “Hello, Raven.” Whether you’re an iPhone gal like me or prefer Android, creative minds all over the world have been hard at work designing little gems to make daily life and household management a lot easier for us all. Those gems? Apps. “There’s an app for that” is a common phrase nowadays - and for good reason. There really seems to be an app for everything. My kids’ pediatric office has its own app for scheduling appointments! The variety boggles the mind, but this week I’d like to focus on a few that have made my life easier, and then I’d like to ask you to share your favorites in the comment section. Tucker Company Gets Attention for Customized iPhones

Local innovator, 'rebellious tinkerer' tells the New York Times about his creations.

Matt Turner didn't know his life would change quite a bit when his iPhone fell off a table and the glass shattered. A maker of iPod docks at the time, Turner, 37, replaced the glass with a piece of wood that he sanded to the correct thickness, according to an article in the New York Times with the headline Rebellious Tinkerers Dress Up the iPhone's Uniform. After posting a picture of his device on Facebook, things started happening. “Everyone wanted one,” Turner told the Times. “So we decided it was something we could make and sell to the public.” The company he co-founded, Material6, is now selling $89 kits that let buyers pick from a dozen different hand-carved wooden backs. Turner is getting orders for around 10 kits a day, and is …
