Funeral services for Tucker resident Mary Ann Wargula will be held on May 25 at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 600 Mountain View Drive in Stone Mountain. Wargula was killed Friday in a one-car accident in Hamilton County, Florida. Her husband Henry Wargula was severely injured and remains hospitalized. Two other passengers, Stanley and Estelle Wydra of Suwanee, Ga., also died in the wreck. Mary Ann Wargula oversaw the Georgia Insurance Department's Agents Licensing Division for many years, according to Patch reader Carie Cato. Visitation will be held at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain on Thursday, May 24 from 6-8 p.m. The obituary can be found here.

According to the blog, the funeral begins at noon Eastern Standard time and will take place at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., which was Houston’s childhood place of worship. Houston died last weekend of undisclosed causes in Los Angeles. Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder are scheduled to perform, the Washington Post reported. Record producer Clive Davis also plans to speak. Other celebrities attending include Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Alicia Keys, Bobby Brown, and Kevin Costner.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol Caisson Unit carried Georgia Highway Patrol Trooper Chad LeCroy from the Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home on Church Street to Roswell Street Baptist Church this afternoon in Marietta. North Carolina Highway Patrol 1st Sgt. Gary McClelland said two of the horses in today's procession were part of the team that carried President Ronald Reagan's body. The Caisson Unit is ready on 24 hours' notice. The Highway Patrol and the Troopers Association keep 10 to 12 uniformed members trained for this duty. Those officers have a deep understanding of what the unit does and its meaning to the families of slain officers. Whitney was a beautiful wonderful person with alot of talent. I grew up with her music. So sad all the fame got to her no reason for this. My heart goes out to entire family and all her many friends.
