Tucker (12-0) hosts Flowery Branch Friday at Adams Stadium in the quarterfinals of the Class AAAA football playoffs.
If you like to see points scored, you’re going to love Friday’s Class AAAA football quarterfinal at Adams Stadium. But you probably already knew that, especially when the Tucker Tigers play a home game at the north DeKalb County stadium. The top-ranked Tigers average nearly 48 points per game, including last week’s 46-0 win over Griffin at Adams. They haven’t been seriously challenged in a game in more than two months (a 15-11 win over Marist on Sept. 2), and they’ve scored 50 points or more SEVEN times. Things could be different this week in a Class AAAA quarterfinal Friday when Flowery Branch (11-1) comes to town with an offense that scores 46 points per game. While the Tigers do their scoring with a multi-threat rushing attack (Dallas …

Tigers earn first shutout in second-round win; advance to Class AAAA quarterfinals.
Tucker earned its first shutout of the season Friday night at Adams Stadium, defeating the visiting Griffin Bears 46-0 in a Class AAAA playoff game that was never in question. The game came unwound quickly for Griffin, which turned over the opening kickoff on its own 22. Dallas Rivers finished the short Tucker drive with a four-yard touchdown run, and there was no looking back from there. Tucker's defense gave up zero net yards rushing and never looked uncomfortable with any play the Bears ran. Deitrick Dukes picked up two sacks in under 30 seconds during the second quarter. Marqeeye Biggs and Jordan Landry each recorded an interception. Solomon Jackson, Joe Rush and Justin Rivers spent a significant amount of time in the Bears' backfield…

Tucker (11-0) hosts Griffin (9-2) in the second round of the Class AAAA football playoffs.
Are you concerned about Tucker's chances of beating Griffin Friday night and advancing in the Class AAAA football playoffs? Don't be. Here are five reasons why the Tigers can — and will — win: 1. Who Are You Gonna Stop? The Tigers score every which way imaginable. Tucker averages 48 points per game — that's a lot of touchdowns scored by a lot of different players. Dallas Rivers and Yusuf Minor had 31 touchdowns between them during the regular season. Tucker has too many weapons. 2. The Other Side of the Ball: Don't let Tucker's gaudy offensive numbers sway you into believing it doesn't focus as much on the D. Jerry Shippy (42 tackles, eight tackles for losses) and Josh Dawson (six sacks) lead a defense that allows just nine points per game…
