More than 100,000 people in DeKalb have already voted early or voted by mail.
The Tucker Recreation Center has been a popular venue for DeKalb voters looking to cast their ballots early. It was among the first locations to open and from Oct. 19 to 27, more than 15,000 people cast their ballots. It continues to be popular as early voting enters its final week. The DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections Office webpage said 1,598 people voted Monday in Tucker. As of Monday, 100,422 people in DeKalb have cast ballots--88,688 by early voting and 11,734 by mail. The county has 470,065 registered voters. Three of the polling places have been open for the previous two weeks. Here's how many people voted Monday at the different polls. Tucker residents can now help decide the alcohol issue in unincorporated DeKalb.
Early voting started Monday on the March 6 presidential primary, but some voters may not realize the ballot has another issue that Georgians care deeply about: Sunday sales. The alcohol vote would allow booze to be sold on Sundays in unincorporated DeKalb County, which includes Tucker, between 12:30 and 11:30 p.m. Every registered voter in DeKalb can vote on unincorporated Sunday sales, according to the DeKalb County Office of Elections. In the Republican presidential primary, voters will choose from nine candidates: Michelle Bachman, Newt Gingrich, John Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Buddy Roemer, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.
