Thieves at the local mall didn't want the car - just some of it.
Last Wednesday, thieves came to the parking lot at Northlake Mall wanting a very specific car part: the catalytic converter. And they had almost no trouble getting it. Jen Burkhart told Tucker Patch that she and her 10-year-old son came outside after shopping mid-afternoon to find a security guard standing next to her Toyota 4Runner. "I thought, hmm, did I park in a handicap spot? He asked if the car was mine and I said yes," Burkhart said. "He told me someone stole my catalytic converter!" Mall security officers said they heard the sound of a saw coming from the direction of the Toyota and spotted a man underneath it. An accident early Wednesday in Tucker leads to an arrest.
Channel 2 Action News is reporting that a woman found early this morning near a wrecked minivan in Tucker may have been kidnapped and raped. The minivan struck a brick mailbox on Henderson Road and then flipped over, WSB-TV reported. Witnesses saw two men and a woman in the van when it crashed. “The two guys, they got out and started walking one way and the girl, she started walking the other way and said that they kidnapped and they were trying to rape her,” Zachary Milo said. Another witness, David Chesnokov, said: “She started coming up toward us, ‘Help me get away from them. They just kidnapped me from my hotel.’” Police arrived and captured the driver, who was allegedly intoxicated, and charged him with driving under the influence. …

Suspicious behavior outside the school on Livsey Road prompts a call to law enforcement.
Police were called to Livsey Elementary School in Tucker this morning after a man was seen loitering outside the entrance, according to a statement released by the PTA. The man, whose identity is being withheld, was seen around 8 a.m. approaching parents as they dropped off their children and also went to the door of at least one home directly across from the school. "This individual's presumed intent was to ask for money," the statement said, adding that no parent or child was specifically threatened or harmed in the incident. Two DeKalb County police cruisers were dispatched to Livsey Road to investigate, and the man was taken for questioning.
