UPDATE: Tucker Business Fire Creates Rush Hour Chaos
Tuesday's evening rush hour was marred by fire at a recycling plant near I-285.
Updated Thursday, April 12, 11:04 a.m. Two dozen firefighters battled a fierce blaze Tuesday at a business adjacent to I-285 south of LaVista Road, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. The fire closed four southbound lanes of the highway during the evening rush hour, creating havoc for motorists because of the intense smoke and poor visibility. CBS Atlanta identified the business as Rock-Tenn Recycling, which is located at 3434 Montreal Industrial Way in Tucker. HERO units were also at the scene of the fire, which started just after 4 p.m. Heavy equipment was used to remove large bales of cardboard boxes which were in danger of igniting, the AJC reported.
