Rain Held Off For Annual Christmas Event

Santa made his appearance and lit Tucker's tree during the annual street festival.

The rain broke just in time for the annual Christmas on Main Street event on Tuesday night. Despite the dreary weather, the crowds came out to welcome Santa and participate in the small-town street festival that has been a Tucker tradition for years. Just after 7 p.m., Art Wood, who was emceeing the event, announced that Santa was on his way. He arrived in an open-top classic convertible and waved to the crowd before getting out of the car in front of the tree (located in front of RBC Bank), touching his finger to his nose, and lighting the tree. Once the 16-foot tree was lit, Santa made his way into the old Rotagilla building (which will reopen as a Mexican grill in early January) and visited with children and had pictures taken. The …
