Also, Boy Scouts are selling trees on a lot near the corner of Hugh Howell Road and Mountain Industrial Boulevard, near that old Sears building. With so many options, picking out a Christmas tree can sometimes make you feel like you're in "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Dekalb County offers free curbside pick-up

Residents of Dekalb County can take advantage of the cleverly-titled "Bring One for the Chipper" program, which provides free pick-up at curbside of Christmas trees and takes place on regular yard waste collection days.  Sponsored by Keep DeKalb Beautiful (KDB) and the DeKalb County Sanitation Division, the service, in effect for the last 20 years, stipulates that trees should be no taller than seven feet, and that larger ones should be cut in half.  All the recycled trees will be chipped into mulch which is then used for public beautification projects or in wildlife habitats.  Residents may also have access to the mulch for their own use, and the county will deliver it to their homes upon request.  KDB recycles over 10,000 trees a …
