Inclusif Fitness Holding Handy Ace Benefit

Local business will host fundraiser for employees of burnt-down hardware store.

By Patrice Peters, Inclusif Fitness owner On the night of Dec. 28, members at Inclusif Fitness were finishing up their Friday evening Zumba class when the Handy Ace Hardware broke out in flames. We had just watched earlier as the employees were leaving for the day. The fire burned through the night and when we returned for classes the next morning, firefighters were still at the site. The entire building burned to the ground. Nearly three dozen employees would be without jobs. I decided to host an employee benefit for them. Join us on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 1-5 p.m. for Tucker’s biggest community benefit. We’re going to raise the roof! Where: Inclusif Fitness on Cowan Road in Tucker, opposite the Handy Ace Hardware building. Cost: $10 per …

Chick-fil-A To Stop Funding Anti-Gay Groups

The announcement was released Wednesday by an LGBT advocacy group.

In an apparent reversal from a long-standing company policy, Chick-fil-A sent out an announcement today that it would no longer fund groups with anti-same-sex stances, according to a NBCNews.com report. Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno, who had blocked the expansion of the fast-food chain from opening stores in the Illinois city, received a letter Wednesday morning stating Chick-fil-A would cease contributing to the groups. "Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena" Chick-fil-A wrote in an emailed statement to NBC News. The Atlanta-based company had created a firestorm of reactions this summer after Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-A's president said the company supported the …

Chick-fil-A Flap not the First Time a Company has run Afoul of Customers

Have you ever boycotted a business because you disagreed with its politics?

Chick-fil-A is known for a lot of things – the chicken nuggets and waffle fries, the friendly and efficient staff, the cow statues hanging off billboards and urging people to ‘eat mor chikin.’ The opening of a new store can draw crowds of people willing to camp out overnight for the chance to win a free year of food. The restaurants are popular places for school fundraisers. And many people look forward to the promotional days that offer free food to those willing to dress up like the cow mascots. But in recent days, the Georgia-based fast food chain has been catching flak for president Dan Cathy’s statements against same sex marriage. In East Atlanta, the owners of Urban Cannibals Bodega + Bites _ Chef Calavino Donati and her wife, …

The DeKalb County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects who stole a cell phone from the Chick-fil-A location at 3967 LaVista Road in Tucker. The restaurant’s surveillance tape captured one of the men taking the phone off the counter while the other one posed as a customer. The incident took place on Thursday, June 7 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said in a press release that the stolen item was an i-Phone 4 belonging to an employee and had been left near the cash register. The two men left the premises hurriedly and were seen driving away in a newer model, grey Nissan Altima with tinted windows.
