Group helps load supplies for Sandy Relief during annual MLK Day of Service.
Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC), a local non-profit organization providing medical equipment and supplies to the disabled community, this week hosted a group of volunteers from three local Best Buy stores. The volunteer team, comprised of thirteen Best Buy employees from the Tucker, Lithonia and Mall of Georgia stores, were assigned to FODAC as part of a company-wide “Day of Service,” held each year on Martin Luther King Day. During its volunteer time at FODAC, the Best Buy team was instrumental in getting a shipment of much-needed medical supplies, such as wheelchairs, shower chairs and hospital beds, loaded on a truck headed to New Jersey for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. “Many people are still suffering the aftermath …

Loganville and Fayetteville stores are on the list, but Tucker gets a new mobile outlet and keeps the store it has.
Loganville-Grayson Best Buy, located at 4014 Atlanta Highway, is part of the 50 stores closing across the United States market, according to a Best Buy press release sent April 14. The Loganville stores is among just two in Georgia that got the news Saturday morning. The other is in Fayetteville. According to the press release, affected stores and employees were notified Saturday. And, most of the stores are closed and will re-open on Sunday, April 15. The company previously disclosed the locations of eight stores - in Kansas City; Scotsdale, Ariz.; San Antonio, Texas; and the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn.) - that were closing. Shoe Department is expanding, and the mall plans to open a 4 Ever Young apparel store, a Subway, a Best Buy Mobile and a T-Mobile store.
Northlake Mall welcomed a new Best Buy Mobile store Wednesday and plans to open four other stores soon. The mall announced the following Wednesday: Encore by Shoe Department, the popular accessories store carrying shopper favorite brands like Nike, New Balance and Timberland, is expanding into a fully renovated 17,900 square foot storefront. This is the only Encore store in Georgia, and it is located on the lower level next to Perfumania. The expansion is slated to be completed this month. 4 Ever Young, a local store specializing in trendy juniors apparel, jewelry and accessories, will open in April in a 11,625 square foot storefront near between Ashley Stewart and Sears Upper Level.
