Leslie Richardson Talks About Tucker to Creative Loafing

The former TCA president discusses local issues with the Atlanta newsweekly.

Leslie Richardson, who just completed her stint as president of the Tucker Civic Association, gave an interview to Creative Loafing for their current Neighborhood Guide issue. "Tucker's the best-kept secret in Atlanta," she said. "It's unincorporated, so we manage everything with all of our groups. We've got all of these community groups and a real sense of community because of that. We're not expecting anyone to do anything for us. We're doing it ourselves." Richardson talked about a partnership that began last year with the Atlanta Regional Commission to start a Lifelong Communities program designed to help senior citizens stay in their homes rather than move to assisted living. Citizen Academy Launches in Tucker

Tucker Civic Association's new plan for a lifelong community kicks off Tuesday.

Join the Tucker Civic Association for a Citizen Academy presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Tucker High Auditorium. The Atlanta Regional Commission has partnered with Tucker Civic to bring in a panel of experts for an exciting and informative “classroom” session. You will learn... "If someone hadn't pointed out to me how difficult it is to cross streets or get services for an older person, I wouldn't have seen it," TCA President Leslie Richardson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
