Feel the Vibrations in Tucker
DrumRISE offers djembe classes starting this month
On January 16th, Tucker's Idlewood Rd. will vibrate as DrumRISE's Amy Jackson teaches beginning djembe classes at Harmony Learning Center. It's a six-week series, running from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evenings. Jackson's classes will mark a return of DrumRISE to Harmony Learning, as Colleen Caffrey, Jackson's business partner, taught her first drum classes at the former Clarimont Rd. locaction in 2006. Jackson and Caffrey met while performing in an all women's percussion group, ConunDRUMS, in 2002 / 2003. Introduced to West African rhythms by Chuck Cogliandro, Jackson and Caffrey fell in love with the music and longed for further instruction.
