Weekender: Healthy Kids 5K Walk/Run, Garden Tour, Art Event

What's happening in town this weekend.

The Unite for Healthy Kids 5K Walk/Run starts at Tucker High School on May 18 at 9 a.m. More info here.

The Tucker Civic Association Give-an-Hour event on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to noon is at the new Young People Matter center, 4315 Cowan Road. YPM is a resource providing services to homeless teens in the community. Volunteers are needed. The project will include painting the exterior siding of the building, spreading mulch, and general cleanup of the grounds. It will be a valuable contribution to an organization that adds so much to the lives of our most vulnerable youth. Bring rollers, paintbrushes, paint trays, buckets, brooms, shovels, weed eaters, blowers, gloves, safety glasses, etc.

Tucker artist Elisha Fields is hosting a reception and book signing for 'Chiselism and the Evolution of an Artist' on May 18 at the Artists' Atelier, 800 Miami Circle, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Tucker Historical Society's Annual Garden Tour is on Saturday. Tickets at Brockett Square Barber Shop, Bena's Hallmark, The Old Tucker Mill Antiques, Tucker Flower Shop, The and Tucker Pet Supply. Tickets will also be on sale on the day of the tour for $15.Β
