Weekender: Dragon Con, Book Fest, College Football

The Decatur Book Festival starts on Friday with a keynote address by John Lewis.

Five things to do this weekend, and where to do them:

Well, of course, there's Dragon Con"the world's largest fantasy/science fiction convention," held annually in Atlanta on Labor Day weekend.

Riverdale’s Seafood & Beer Festival will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Riverdale Town Center from noon until 9:30 p.m. It features "live music, international beer stations and an alluring display of fish, crab, scallops, and other seafood to entice the palate."

For the fifth consecutive year, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta is recognized as the official beginning of the college football season.

The Decatur Book Festival starts on Friday with a keynote address by John Lewis and continues until Sunday evening. 

Action Dash is a family friendly 5K
in which participants dress as their favorite action heroes and race on this Labor Day, Sept. 2. Suit up in your favorite cape, mask and running shoes, and help Action Ministries to defeat the cycle of poverty across Georgia.
