This Weekend: '24 Hours of Booty' at Stone Mountain Park
The Oct. 1-2 event is all for a good cause: to fight cancer. Volunteers are needed; participants can still sign up, too.

More than 400 recreational cyclists are expected to ride their bikes for a full day, starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 through 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, for "24 Hours of Booty," LIVESTRONG's official cycling charity event -- and the only national 24-hour road cycling charity event in the U.S., according to the press release.
"24 Hours of Booty" will support the Aflac Cancer Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta as well as LIVESTRONG's cancer research and programs. Some 346 riders raised $160,000 last year, organizers said. The event is also held in Charlotte and Columbia, Md.

Cyclist Bob Roll, once called "the best thing to happen to the Tour de France since Lance Armstrong," in Esquire magazine, will be a celebrity participant.

The 4.2 route is referred to as the Stone Mountain "Booty Loop," and the official camping and activities area is called "Bootyville," which will be adjacent to Confederate Hall near the park's West Gate.
The top fundraiser in Atlanta will receive quite a prize: a limited-edition Pinarello ROKH carbon fiber road bike.
At $50 per person, participant registration is still open and can be done online for individuals and teams. Volunteers are also needed.
