Tucker resident shot his best round of the tournament, a 68.
Tucker golfer Zane Goldthorp placed in a tie for fourth at the Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship in Duluth, according to Neighbor Newpapers.
He finished the first round of the tournament in a tie for fourth, but dropped to ninth place after the second day, managing to climb right back up in the final round.
“I did not have a lot of preparation time, so it made it even more special when I played well,” he said.

Goldthorp told the paper that he only recently resumed the game after taking time off to start a family and working for an insurance company.
“It was killing me and I wanted to play, so I got my amateur status back,” he said. “My wife and I joined Smoke Rise Country Club about three years ago and that is when I got back to playing regularly.”
