Minnesota Vikings cornerback Asher Allen, from Tucker, has retired from the NFL, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Head coach Leslie Frazier was taken aback by Allen's decision. “Caught me by surprise,” he said, adding that health issues were not a factor.
graduate Allen, 24, played in 36 games for the Vikings and started 20 games during the last two seasons. He was picked in the third round of the 2009 draft after playing at the University of Georgia from 2006-08.
