Tucker Outguns Flowery Branch 42-34

Even after taking down Flowery Branch QB Kanler Coker and forcing a wild throw on fourth down with the game on the line, Josh Dawson made absolutely sure the ball had fallen incomplete before he began his celebration. Indeed, Coker was turning impossible plays into first downs at such a rate that everyone in the stadium waited for the ball to hit the ground before exhaling. One final miracle was not in the cards, and Flowery Branch (11-2) watched helplessly as Tucker (13-0) ran the final 1:58 off the clock to preserve the 42-34 win in front of a packed house at Adams Stadium Friday night.

Coker put on a clinic at the quarterback position all night, throwing for 340 yards with two touchdowns, and making game-changing plays nearly every time he got into trouble. He also added 64 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Tucker trailed for the first time all season and didn't get on the board until the end of the first quarter, but 28 unanswered points brought the game back into the Tigers' comfort zone and in position to withstand a Falcons' fourth-quarter surge.

Ultimately, the Tigers' depth and versatility in the backfield won the game. Jordan Landry and Yusuf Minor each tallied over 100 yards rushing, and Minor added 87 return yards as well. Minor's 56-yard first-quarter kickoff return set up Tucker's first score and kept the visiting Falcons from running away with the game.

Juwaan Williams played both sides of the ball, and was particularly active during a second-quarter Flowery Branch drive in which he jarred a catch loose from from a receiver and later picked off a pass from his counterpart to end a redzone threat and protect a tie at the half (the subsequent touchdown return was called back on a block in the back). On offense, Williams rushed for three touchdowns and frequently turned scrambles into drive-extending first downs.
