The final week of the high school football regular season has 10 DeKalb teams involved in eight games to decided playoff berths for the first round of the state playoffs to begin next week.

The Cedar Grove Saints (6-3) travel to Blessed Trinity (7-2) with the opportunity to secure a home p layoff game to open the Class AAA state playoffs. The Saints can seal that No. 2 seed in Region 6-AAA with a victory over Blessed Trinity.

It’s been 56 years since the Druid Hills Red Devils made a state playoff appearance and they are one win away from reaching the playoffs for the first time since the 1956 season. Tucker (7-2) can clinch the No. 3 seed in Region 6-AAAAA with a win over Mays (5-4) which needs a win to have an opportunity to reach the playoffs. Tucker hosts Mays at Adams Stadium on Friday.

Stephenson (6-2) gets the Region 6-AAAAA No. 2 seed and home playoff game

Two Region 6-AAAA play-in games have playoff implications for a pair of DeKalb teams. Well,in Tucker and many other places it's not humans moving into areas that were once for wildlifeRead More only. The coyotes have no memory of that. This is part of a general acclimitization of wildlife (deer, coyote, fox, turkey - even bear) to suburban and even quasi-urban conditions. Food is plentiful as are hiding places, and enemies are few. Coyotes do not need to be eradicated, but their needs to be a removal and/or sterilization program in areas where coyotes are a threat.

Yes I do believe in protecting wildlife and preserving our natural world as best as possible at thisRead More point. And yes I think we've messed up our planet by over populating as humans. Having said that...now that we have densely populated urban & suburban areas as in the metro Atlanta area including tucker, I think coyotes or rattlesnakes or other carnivorous animals need to be kept to a minimum in densely populated areas...the solution is for us to have zero population growth & preserve lands where wildlife & exist without us encroaching on them...but coyote attacks in backyards 10 miles from the center of a city of 7 million people...nah, something's wrong with that...animal control...do your job!!!

I am unapologetic about our human numbers on this wonderful planet! This bit of land that I careRead More for, "10 miles from the center of a city of 7 million people" is well-fenced. I do think that Animal Control ought to trap and remove coyotes that threaten my pets! Evidently the coyote wasn't rabid, thank goodness! But this was a LARGE animal, large enough to be a threat to small children. If they run and hunt in packs, they would be dangerous to humans, I think. So it's not just pets.
