Tucker Dominates Griffin 46-0

Tigers earn first shutout in second-round win; advance to Class AAAA quarterfinals.

earned its first shutout of the season Friday night at Adams Stadium, defeating the visiting Griffin Bears 46-0 in a Class AAAA playoff game that was never in question.

The game came unwound quickly for Griffin, which turned over the opening kickoff on its own 22. Dallas Rivers finished the short Tucker drive with a four-yard touchdown run, and there was no looking back from there.

Tucker's defense gave up zero net yards rushing and never looked uncomfortable with any play the Bears ran.

Yusuf Minor gave another star effort, returning the second-half kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown and picking up an eight-yard touchdown rush for the game's final score. Minor also led the charge in kick coverage to stifle any chance of a Bears' return.

In addition to the interception and touchdown reception, Landry ran in the Tigers' second score of the game from 44 yards out. Rivers also finished with multiple scores, as he added another four-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Tucker's offense had two consecutive scoring runs called back on penalties in the first quarter and did not play nearly as clean a game as the first-round victory over Sprayberry.
