Tucker Cross Country Girls Qualify for State

Lady Tigers earned a berth in the Class AAAAA meet in Carrollton on Nov. 10.

Top 10 finishes from Naima and Nuba Jackson fueled a Region 6-AAAAA fourth place finish by the Tucker Lady Tigers and earned a berth in the Class AAAAA state cross country meet in Carrollton this month.
 
It is the first team state meet berth for the Lady Tigers since the late 1980s. Tucker’s Tracey Harrell finished third in the 1988 and 1989 Class AAA state meets.
 
Naima Jackson was sixth overall in the Region 6-AAAAA individual results with a time of 20:16.13 and Nuba Jackson was ninth in a time of 21:09.64 in leading the Lady Tigers past Southwest DeKalb (111-125) to claim the final state meet berth.
 
Nadia Lee finished 30th overall in a time of 24.22.66, Nuri Lee was 33rd in 25:26.90 and Sharik Jones was 36th to round out the scoring for Tucker.
 
The Class AAAAA girls’ state meet begins at 1:45 p.m. at the course in Carrollton on Saturday, Nov. 10.
