Silver Streaks Run Their Record to 2-0 in Wheelchair Handball

Tucker's Dontrey Hunt hit for 10 points in leading the Silver Streaks to victory.

The DeKalb rolled to a 2-0 record in wheelchair handball by defeating the Gwinnett Heat 11-1 on Saturday at Henderson Middle School.

Tucker’s Dontrey Hunt hit for 10 points in leading the Silver Streaks to victory while Sidney Parrot added one point in the game. Ty Jackson blocked 13 shots on goal in allowing just one goal by the visiting Heat.

The Silver Streaks put their undefeated record on the line against their archrivals West Georgia Wolverines as they go on the road to Warm Springs on Saturday, October 1. The game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation.

The DeKalb Eagles’ junior varsity season opener did not go as well as the North Fulton YMCA Mustangs took a 7-3 victory at Henderson Middle School last Saturday.

Keith Debrosse from Laurel Ridge Elementary and brothers Chance and Miles Boyd from Henderson Middle each scored one point each in the game for the Eagles (0-1). The Mustangs improved to 2-0 on the season. The Eagles play host to the Clayton Eagles (0-1) on Saturday, Oct. 1 in a game set for 11 a.m. at Henderson Middle School.

Former Silver Streaks player Daniel McLaughlin is now a certified referee with the American Association of Adapted Sports. A six year veteran of the Adapted Sports program in DeKalb, McLaughlin graduated from Druid Hills High this past spring and is now enrolled at GPC Tech School. His first assignment as a referee was calling the Eagles game against the Mustangs this past Saturday.
