Golf 'Fore' Haiti Tees Off in Tucker

The event takes place on Monday, Oct. 8 at Heritage Golf Links.

Former Ambassador Andrew Young and GIANT Global are hosting the first annual Golf “Fore” Haiti Tournament to help victims of the January 2010 earthquake.

The event takes place on Monday, Oct. 8, at in Tucker. Official tee off time is at 10 a.m. followed by a round of golf (18 holes) and a banquet and silent auction beginning at 5 p.m.

The purpose of the tournament is to provide basic health care, nutrition, clean water and social service resources to support GIANT Global’s Rural Health Initiative that serves thousands of needy Haitian families living in the areas of Bouneau and Maniche, Les Cayes. Donations also assist a maternity hospital in Port-au-Prince.

“Times are extremely tough right now economically for everyone. However, Haiti’s people are suffering horrific displacement, lack of sanitation and clean running water, deadly diseases such as cholera, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS and lack of basic healthcare,” said Dr. Alawode Oladele, a co-founder of GIANT Global.

“Yet the Haitian people are resilient despite the horrific natural disasters. We are asking metro Atlanta's businesses, charitable groups and caring students to help us raise $150,000 to cover the cost of mobilizing volunteer medical personnel and sorely needed health and food resources to save the lives of Haiti’s women and children.”

The golf event is $450 for a team of four and individual banquet tickets are $35. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. All donations are tax deductible.
