Four DeKalb Schools' Football Teams on Fall TV Schedule
Teams, including Tucker, will be part of the Thursday night High School Game of the Week coverage.
Four DeKalb high school football teams are set as part of the Thursday Night High School Game of the Week coverage scheduled by WSB-TV Channel 2 and PlayON! Sports in cooperation with Georgia High School Association (GHSA) for the fall of 2011.
Tucker, Dunwoody, Martin Luther King Jr. High and Southwest DeKalb (twice)
were selected for games during the 12-week regular season schedule on WSB-TV Channel 2.2 (Comcast 248, Charter 127) at 7:30 on Thursday nights. The games will also be streamed live on wsbtv.com and rebroadcast on WSB Channel 2 at 1:06 a.m. on Friday nights.
This is the second year of the WSB-TV and PlayON! Sports partnership with GHSA. The group televised games on Fridays in 2010.
Southwest DeKalb and 2010 Class AAAA semifinalist Tucker will open the new Thursday night High School Football Game of the Week schedule on August 25 at 7:30 p.m. from James R. Hallford Stadium in Clarkston.
DeKalb also highlights the second week (Sept. 1) of the Thursday night schedule as M.L. King hosts South Gwinnett at Hallford Stadium in a rematch of last year’s high scoring affair won 44-41 by South Gwinnett in Snellville.
Dunwoody steps into the spotlight on October 6 as the Wildcats host Southwest DeKalb, who is making its second appearance on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at North DeKalb Stadium in Chamblee.
TV coverage includes Zach Klein, Channel 2 sports director, with the play-by-play and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s sports columnist Michael Carvell providing analysis of each game. Coverage will also include a special halftime show featuring each school’s marching band and interviews with school principals on other areas of excellence.
State playoff coverage is set for Friday nights beginning November 11 with the first round games and concluding in the state semifinals on December 2.
