Dog Breaks Jumping Record at Stone Mountain

The dock-jumping record was broken Saturday with an 8'5" vertical jump.

This new video, from Saturday, includes a record-setting dog that competed in the DockDogs World Championship Wild Card Event held July 26-28 at Stone Mountain Park.

The dog in the video is named Bo, and the dog and its owner will go on to the DockDogs World Championship later this year. The previous world record was 8'4" and Bo broke the record Saturday with an 8'5" vertical jump.

The weekend competition at Stone Mountain Park featured all three DockDogs disciplines. The first discipline is Big Air where the dogs jumped for distance. The second discipline is Extreme Vertical where the dogs jumped for height. The final discipline is Speed Retrieve where the dogs jumped and swam for the fastest time. More than 150 registrants participated in the event.

According to DockDogs CEO, Grant Reeves, some of the top-ranked dogs in the sport from not only the Southeast, but also other regions of the U.S. competed for a chance to qualify for the DockDogs World Championship in Dubuque, Iowa, in November. Reeves said, "This was our first time at Stone Mountain."
