DeKalb Schools Soccer: Tucker, Lakeside Play Tuesday

Tucker and Lakeside prepare for Class AAAA Sweet 16.

The No. 5 ranked Tucker Tigers and No. 8 ranked Lakeside Vikings are the two remaining DeKalb County entries in the state soccer playoffs as teams head into the second round of play.

The Tigers (14-4-1) defeated South Paulding 5-1 in the first round to earn the right to host Dutchtown (10-4-0), a 5-3 winner over Tri-Cities, on Tuesday, May 8 at Hallford Stadium in Clarkston at 7:30 p.m.

Tucker’s scored just his second and third goals of the season to put his team up 2-0 on South Paulding while Solomon Roberts (16 goals on season), William Gomez (11 goals) and Manthe Nsukami added one goal each in the win.

Goalie Steven Duffy had a solid game allowing just the one goal with the score already 4-0 in favor of the Tigers. Duffy has a 1.13 goals allowed per game average with 20 goals allowed in 18 games played to rank fourth overall in DeKalb County.

The Vikings (13-3-1) downed Alexander 3-1 behind goals from Nick Harris (16th), Austin Smith (17th) and George Gavrieldes (4th) to advance to the second round to face No. 2 ranked McIntosh (16-2-1) at McIntosh on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Jonathan Goldsmith, who played against Alexander, and Susjed Garcia have split time in goal for the Vikings this year with each appearing in 10 games. Garcia tops the DeKalb goalie stats with a 0.63 goals allowed per game (5 goals total) and Goldsmith is right behind at 0.73 with six goals allowed this season.
