Home games in the first round of the 2011 high school football playoffs are on the line in for several DeKalb County football programs this weekend.

Stephenson, Martin Luther King Jr. and Tucker can assure themselves of entertaining foes in the first round of the state playoffs in two weeks with victories on Friday night.

No. 4 ranked Stephenson entertains Region 2-AAAAA foe Newnan (5-3) at Hallford Stadium on Friday night as the Jaguars try to secure that home playoff berth in the Class AAAAA opening round.

The No. 5 ranked Lions of M.L. King go on the road to Coweta County for the second week in a row as they take on East Coweta (6-2) in an effort to set up a matchup of undefeated DeKalb County and Region 2-AAAAA teams against Stephenson in the regular season finale at Hallford Stadium on Nov. 4.

The No. 1 ranked (8-0) can sew up the Region 6-AAAA title for the second consecutive season with a victory over Lithonia (4-4) at Panthersville in a game set for an 8 p.m. kickoff.

Another key Region 6-AAAA game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Hallford Stadium on Saturday as the Miller Grove Wolverines (5-3) take on the Southwest DeKalb Panthers (6-2) in a battle for that fourth state playoff berth from the region.

The Columbia Eagles (5-3) travel to Woodward Academy (6-2) on Friday with a game having big implications on the Region 5B-AAA standings. The two teams are knotted with Cedar Grove (5-3) at 4-1 atop Region 5B-AAA and the winner moves up a rung in the region play-in bracket which is played the following week.
