DeKalb Schools Football: Week 11 Recap

Undefeated Stephenson and M.L. King remain on collision course.

The No. 4 ranked Stephenson Jaguars (9-0) and No. 5 ranked Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (9-0) both won this past weekend to set up a battle of undefeated teams for the Region 2-AAAAA title this Friday.

The Jaguars rallied from a 13-7 deficit behind the running of Mike Davis and T.J. Moon for a 35-13 Region 2-AAAAA victory at Hallford Stadium.

Davis had 240 yards and two touchdowns and Moon rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns as the Jaguars rolled up all 377 yards of total offense on the ground against Newnan.

Newnan (5-4) took the 13-7 lead on a one-yard TD run by Bryant Ball with 9:01 left in the second quarter before Stephenson answered on its next offensive play with a 71-yard touchdown run by Davis to start a 28-0 run by the Jaguars. Justin Holman and Davis added one–yard runs in the third quarter to push the lead to 28-13 and Moon scored his second touchdown with a 7-yard run up the middle in the fourth quarter.

The Lions sealed their ninth victory of the season with a second half touchdown to defeat East Coweta (6-3) 20-7 on the road to set up this week’s battle of undefeated and Top 5 ranked Class AAAAA teams at Hallford Stadium.

Tucker 50, Lithonia 7
The No. 1 ranked Tucker Tigers (9-0) sewed up their second consecutive Region 6-AAAA title with (4-5) at Panthersville Stadium on Friday night. The Tigers exploded for 28 second quarter points to take a commanding 36-0 lead at the half.

SW DeKalb 25, Miller Grove 0
The Southwest DeKalb Panthers (7-2) clinched a Region 6-AAAA playoff berth and ended Miller Grove’s hopes with a 25-0 defeat of the Wolverines (5-4) at Panthersville on Saturday. Toran Davis threw two touchdowns passes to William Goodwin and another to Justin Mincy to lead the Panthers. Jalen French also returned an interception 35 yards for a score.

Dunwoody 39, Chamblee 6
The Dunwoody Wildcats (5-4) evened its DeKalb County football series record with Chamblee at 7-7 with a 39-6 victory over the Bulldogs (4-5) at North DeKalb Stadium on Friday night. Joseph Farrar had 134 yards rushing and three touchdowns to go with a Dazel Claytor interception return for a touchdown to lead the Wildcats in the win.
